I've commented elsewhere on Mahathir's writing on "the racist card". "Racial" politics in Malaysia are real.The responsible leaders must address this, not deny it. That's the nature of the society.The country came with it, thanks to the British. What Mahathir is saying in this particular posting of his is true. When the Malays talk about NEP and such topics, is racist. When other races talk about the same thing, isn't it also racist? Talk about the history of Tanah Melayu factually, not emotionally.Don't be like Singapore which traces its history only up to Raffles. That is a denial of history. We are not in the stone age anymore. Whatever progress that's been made in this country is real, not imagined. Start all future discussions from there. Somebody must have done something right to put us where we are economically, however much some of us begrudge that. Why can't we pick up where we have done right, and fight on for a better Malaysia ? Instead of demonising Mahathir no end, why can't we give credit where credit is due. We won't be thought of less if we do. All these critics, from Anwar to Param to Salleh Abbas to Zaid Ibrahim to Musa Hitam to Sharir and the rest, I ask what have they done for the country ?
